This whole 30-day challenge dealio is new to me. Never done one before although I've lurked in the shadows plenty times and observed others. So, why now? First of all, I'm not doing it to lose weight. That would be a welcome result don't get me wrong, but it's not the motivator. I just think refined sugar is basically toxic. And, I've been ingesting a lot of it lately. I'm going sugar free in January because I want to reset my appetite for sugar back to where it has been in the past. I want to think about fruit when I want something sweet -- not frozen yogurt or See's Candy.

You had to say See's candy... that's my achilles heel around the holidays!
Actually, I already consumed a 1 lb box myself (an annual ritual since my Mother in Law always gives me one for Christmas) so I'm temporarily ratcheting down the sugar as well. But not to zero... yikes!
I'm very impressed with your challenge and wish you best of luck!
I think that what you're doing is awesome! I should do the same on this end, I don't eat much sugar but I do on occasion and I wonder if I'd miss it. I'll start tomorrow and see how long I can go for. So only natural sugars? Does yogurt have sugar? I'm going to have to read ingredients now but I do to look for fats and sodium, now to add sugar to that list and this should wipe out all processed foods. All the best to you this month, I'll check in every now and again to see how you're doing.
Hey Crabby, thanks for the supportive comment about See's candy. I really don't know what came over me this year. I'm the one who traveled to the See's store and created a half pound box of hand-picked favorites. And, I bought more when on a trip to SF recently. Really had to nip this habit in the buds.
Darlin - I'm going to post the challenge creator's rules. I liked her flexibility. Some sugar free challenges are very restrictive, although they tend to be of shorter duration. Good luck! It'll be fun to compare notes with you.
