The regimen combines daily injections with a near-starvation diet, and patients, mostly women, are often enticed by promises that they can lose about a pound a day without feeling hungry. Perhaps even more seductively, they are frequently told that the hCG will prompt their bodies to carry away and metabolize fat that has been stored where they least want it — in their upper arms, bellies and thighs.

I just saw this on the news. The not being hungry part would be nice, but with those few calories people will be damaging vital organs in no time. It's not worth it.
Craziness! I had to unsubscribe from a couple of blogs when the blogger started following that plan. One of them was in danger of losing her home, but somehow found the money for the shots and doctor visits.
To me, this involvement by licensed health professionals is just as unethical as cancer cure quackery. People put all kinds of pressure on themselves to reach a fantasy of being physically perfect. They are in search for a cure for their imperfect lives. It seems the doctors and others who are charging such outrageous fees for unsound treatment should face losing their license to pratcie medicine. Instead they are becoming wealthy.
I'm afraid that most people wouldn't care whether something is ethical or not so long as it lets them lose weight.
I called to make a doctors appointment at my local Dr. and they were advertising this diet while I was on hold. I can't believe any Dr. would recommend this!! So sad, they are desperately looking to make an extra buck. We are looking for a new Doctors office.
This stuff drives me crazy! Why is it that people have no common sense when it comes to weight loss? Hope this one goes away quickly and quietly.
