Keeping a web log for my experiences in becoming fitter and healthier has helped. It's a combination of accountability and support from others. It's also an opportunity to learn from others and to share what I've learned that's helped me reach my goals. And, I suppose keeping up a wellness blog is an indicator of current commitment to the cause. Somewhere along the line, I forgot about why I even put effort into keeping Fitville alive.
Ok, so what's up in Fitville? I've drifted a little out of my goal weight range. Haven't ridden my bike since early September. Thinking tomorrow may be the day for a bike ride. Tomorrow begins a new month and that means a fresh start to tracking my walking and riding goals. Seems when I meet them or come close, I have no problem staying right where I want to be weight-wise.
On the food side of things, I've been pondering all the info out there about the importance of breakfast. Is it really the most important meal of the day? Doesn't it seem like breakfast is the meal that's easiest for portion control? Does it matter what you eat as much as when you eat it? Are eggs good or bad? Or neutral?
Do you have any strong beliefs about breakfast?

I have strong feelings about breakfast...I think it is the number one way to up your metabolism...I also believe that if you can do your cardio before breakfast that you can burn 300% more fat..I have no scientific evidence but only what my trainer has told me and it is working for me!
I do believe that having breakfast does keep me on track. I do have a problem with actually COOKING myself breakfast every morning. That is why I opt for a protein shake, currently trying Shakeology® it has helped me with my weight and portion control throughout the rest of the day. Plus I get a chocolate shake every morning which is pretty amazing! (I have a chocolate addiction!) But it also boosts your metabolism to eat in the morning, your body shuts down at night to burn the food you ate that day, it needs a kick start in the morning. I am no expert by any means, but I will say that eating in the morning has significantly helped me.
Thanks Beth & Nicole. I have some shakeology leftover from when I won some to try. I didn't really care for the flavor (not chocolate) but I did like how I felt afterward.
Great blog!
Started my own health blog recently.
Hope you can check it out!

I drink a Protein Coffee everyday for breakfast and it gets me started on the right foot! 1 heaping teaspoon Folgers instant, 12 oz cold water, 1 scoop chocolate protein, shake. Once shaken, add ice and you have a frozen chocolate protein coffee! Try it out!
I have gained and lost a LOT of weight in my life. And any time I have lost it, I have been eating breakfast.Just a thought.
I always believed breakfast was the most important meal of the day but lately I've read a few articles which suggest it's okay to skip it.I'm torn on this one as I think for me this would be the easiest way to cut some calories as I like to eat later in the day but I don't know if it's worth risking.
There is no definite proof that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. They just noticed that people who eat breakfast are also the ones who are conscious about their health and people who skip breakfast are often the ones who are too busy so they just go to fast food. That's the reason why people who eat breakfast appear to be healthier compared to others who don't eat in the mornings.
I know I went for years without eating breakfast. I just am not hungry in the morning. In those years I tended to pack on the pounds. Eating a good breakfast I find does help to get my metabolism going and I can eat more in the day without putting on the pounds.
Protein every morning within 20 minutes of getting out of bed! Gets the day started right.
Breakfast is so important and because I don't eat it, I have been gaining alot of weight. Definitely on a mission to change that. Nicole's shake idea might be the solution for me.
I think breakfast is important but I have a hard time deciding what is the healthiest choice for my first meal of the day
I'm becoming more and more "paleo" these days and soft-boiled eggs and poached eggs are my favouries for breakfast!
I believe breakfast is essential to get the energy we need to start the day. :) That is why I make it a point to have breakfast and remind my family members to do the same.
As for my own breakfast, I start with milk and cereal or sunny side up eggs and toast.
I struggle with having breakfast because of time constraints. I already get up pretty early in the morning to not have to get stuck in traffic jams...
Hi!,
To my opinion the most important meal for me is my breakfast. I usually run before breakfasts early in the morning (usually in spring and summer) and this really helps me to loose weight. My breakfast really helps me to up my metabolism.
I'm a breakfast lover. According to doctors, people who are not into having breakfast are at a high risk of having diabetes. I love having orange or mango juice for breakfast along with an egg. Keeps me on track!
Thanks for the nice post!
If i don't have breakfast, I can't function. It sets me up for a poor day and also over eating later in the day. You are going to end up storing more fat if you don't eat breakfast because the body will think it is in starvation mode and start storing fat instead of burning it. Best to have 6 equal sized meals equally spaced out over the whole day.
