marvelous magnesium

Though I'm prone to wishful thinking when it comes to vitamin supplements, the more I read about magnesium, the more I'm convinced of its value in being fit and healthy. Having a normal amount of magnesium in your body is tied to just about everything that one would consider important.

  • blood pressure

  • bone health

  • heart function

  • balanced mood

  • energy levels

  • insulin

  • metabolism

  • muscle function

After I started bicycling around this time last year, I had a terrible bout of leg cramping during the night and first thing in the morning. Since I've been taking a magnesium supplement, this has not been a problem at all. Another thing I've noticed is that my recovery from pulling weeds and the other movements associated with yard work, is much better. I used to have such sore legs after doing what amounted to lots of squats. I'm wondering if the combination of doubling my Vit D (per Dr.) and taking magnesium will also lower my blood pressure which is on the border of being "a problem."

My mom started taking a magnesium/calcium/Vitamin D combo supplement and she says she feels a lot better. Her nails are harder too.
I'm going to get some for myself.

Funny you should mention Magnesium.

Hi, Lee! I've started taking magnesium with potassium aspartate and I feel better, too. Well, when I can remember to take it. New habits are hard to get into.

I JUST posted over on Hanlie's blog about Mag!! Great minds indeed! I've been an LMT for 26 years, & have seen client after client respond to increasing their Mag levels (I 'suggest' they look into it!) Exactly as you mention - fewer sore/ cramping muscles, 'rock hard' shoulders relaxing, etc.
I take ~ 700 mg throughout the day, & also 'more' Vit D 3 . . . here's another good reference http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html

My husband's neurologist recommended Magnesium + B2 daily to head off his migraines before they start and it's REALLY helped. Where he used to have a migraine at least once a week, now he goes weeks - even six weeks at once point - with not a migraine in sight. Truly, for such a small investment it's a tremendous payback!
