When I first started this blog, I was also giving some thought to joining Weight Watchers. It was mainly appealing because I know people who have achieved great results and because it would facilitate meeting other people who are committed to losing weight and maintaining a healthy way of life. Maybe I would make a walking pal. I was also really, really curious to know the impact of public weigh ins on my behavior.
Well, I've decided to see if posting my weight and progress toward my goal of reaching 140 lbs and staying there on this blog would be enough to hold me accountable. Got a new, accurate scale yesterday that I can actually read. Stepped on first thing this morning. Result: 156.8. I'm 5' 4 1/2".
Verdict is: I'm not going to join WW at this time. Going to see if I can make progress on my own with help from all the wit and wisdom I've found in blogland.

Hi! I just wanted to stop by and say "hi" and thank you for visiting my diet/exercise blog -- which is eerily similar to yours! We are -- as you so eloquently put it -- fellow travelers! And your comment on the chocolate croissants was just priceless! : )
Good luck!
I agree about not rushing to weight watchers. Don't get me wrong, I am a lifetime member who gained it all back within a few years. The thing about weight watchers is, its not weight watchers who is helping you lose weight, its you. So it doesn't matter what plan you choose, if you work hard and exercise, that's what's going to make you successful! And yes, you can get tons of info online. You can do it!
Jennifer, thanks. I agree with your take on things...makes sense. Nothing replaces determination & exercise.
Charlie, muchas gracias. Back at ya!
Jenners - nice blog -- glad I found it. Thanks for visiting mine.
You do know that I weight about the same and am 2.5 inches shorter than you, right? Hope that helps
