This week I tried something new with cycling: two 30 mile rides. So instead of riding five days, I rode four and walked 4 miles instead one day. The walking was easier than I remembered, probably because I've increased my endurance with the cycling and because I'm lighter. Still, my feet have really softened up. Even got a blister! Total cycling miles:
113. I'm going to increase the walking/hiking and keep the 100 miles a week of cycling goal. As much as I love riding my bike, I think weight bearing exercise is important.
I'm going to try making a green smoothie. Freakin' finally. If I thought I was late to the party with having an iPod, I'm really lagging behind with the green smoothie. Any favorite recipes to share?

You are too kind to me. But still, I love kindness.
Thanks for the link love.
I didn't want to sound too preachy but I loved what that guy had to say.
I make and drink a smoothie each morning. I use berries, yogurt, protein powder and a huge bunch of spinach. So the smoothie is still slightly sweet but is green(er) due to the spinach.
I am not exercising as much as you but I have identified new people to ride with and that's a big hurdle. I know I can ride alone, however, since breaking my arm, I'm a little less trusting of my capabilities. For now, I need a buddy and I found a group of them. Plus I found folks who kayak. I'm making plans!
I'm even further behind on the green smoothie train. I keep saying I will try one but I still haven't tried it yet. Oh well, hope you enjoy yours!
Yeah, I am guilty of promising to have a GS but haven't yet.
Way to go on the vast amount of miles - woo-hoo!
Suffering a bit from saddle soreness - ouch!
I don't really use a recipe when making green smoothies... I just throw stuff in - usually greens, banana, coconut oil, water, apple, pear and a big chunk of ginger.
I will hopefully be getting my first iPod for my birthday in a few weeks' time!
You are amazing with that bike riding! I do agree some cross training would be good too! Work some different muscles & weight bearing is a good thing!!!
I am WAY behind on green smoothies too. Don't do them. I eat the green stuff!
I am kinda behind on the iPod stuff. I have a shuffle only & that is all I ever have had.. nothing more & no blackberry either. And, I am not talking about the kind you eat! :-)
Good luck with the green monster smoothie... I tried mine this morning and completely failed. YOu can see from my post. Hope yours turns out better than mine ;)
Wow - that's a lot of miles!
I like the veggie smoothies, you can be very creative with them - and they are filling!
I can drink any colour but blue. I don't know why?
Your bike mileage is amazing! You and Tens have convinced me, time to get a bike.
Andrea
Another awesome cycling week!
I keep saying I'm jumping on the green smoothie bandwagon and then I forget when I get to the grocery store. Please let us know how it goes!
I am amazed at how you keep increasing your exercising even after reaching goal! And I love that post by POD and the one prior to it also.
I can't find a reason to add the green smoothies to my diet at least not yet. I think I would be inclined to drink one and then still want something that requires teeth.
Okay... I must be behind too! I haven't had the green smoothie either... Hmm... maybe I should jump that train also!
Love that you are cross training... I think it is so important!
Angie
Im on the green train (come on ride the train. ride it!!) as well but am tempted to brown mine up this morning with some tossed in cold coffee...or perhaps use that as chaser.
and POD? how to we love thee?
I can not count the ways.
Looks like I need to follow the trend and at least try it! I've tried to find green smoothies at retail smoothie outlets to no avail.
Glad you are doing well.
I've transitioned from coffee in the morning to green smoothies. It has been great!
My green smoothie contains:
big handful of spinach
1 chopped frozen banana
1 cup of skim milk.
Blen and enjoy! I hope you like it!
