a series of unfortunate detours

Well, it all started with a trip to Boston & New York City, followed by a week of the H1N1 flu and then the holidays ensued. It was quite the detour!

Guess what? When you bake and eat chocolate chip shortbread cookies and all kinds of other stuff and don't exercise, the pounds you've previously managed to burn off come right back. They pitch tents on your thighs & belly. The bastards.

Unfortunately, I'm in a place where I need to take heed of Jillian's advice about How to Get Back on Track. This is encouraging:
The New You knows how to deal with setbacks and get back on the wagon. And after all, there are no mistakes, just learning experiences. Weight loss is a process — it takes time. You will encounter small failures — everyone does — but every pound you gain can be lost.
Hear that, fat? Better start packing up camp.

Am totally in camp with you. But now that we've had our fun it's time to get back on track. At least you had fun doing it (except for the flu, of course).

Oh yes, you have empowered yourself to be able to handle this. Good luck for 2010!

AH!! I'm so sorry to hear about your little run-in with H1N1, I actually just spent the last six months in Beijing and several of my friends got put into quarantine because of flu symptoms because they are CRAZY AFRAID of H1N1, but I'm glad to hear of recovery!

Haha, yea the holidays are a disaster for weight loss plans!! I was wondering if you've heard of something called cellular nutrition plans?

I only ask because I spent a descent amount of time working under research psychologists specializing in psychological-psychical relationships, and there are huge links between weight loss and satisfaction with one's self. Additionally there is a newly discovered brain derived neurotropic factor, which actually recreates brain cells and leads to staving off short-term memory loss and the like.

Anyways big tangent, but I'm a bit of a health nut (run marathons and work out everyday), so I have become super conscious of what goes into my body, and recently went on this nutrition suppliment program based on cellular nutrition and have had absolutely amazing results. I guess the doctor who designed it was awarded the Nobel Prize for nutrition and biochemistry or something like that, it's really remarkable stuff. I am using it for weight maintenance and weight gain (building muscle mass), but I have spoken with a ton of people who use it in the weight-loss nutrition program and have had remarkable results; I mean some have lost 100 pounds and kept it off for 9+ years. Crazy right?

I was wondering if we might be able to hear your take on cellular nutrition plans vs. normal healthy eating vs. organic type of eating? I know its a lofty subject I just figured based on the popularity of your blog it might be a good medium to bring something like this up!

If you'd like further info or would rather discuss this via email rather than posting just shoot me an email anytime at AlexiDouvas@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing your take!!!

Wishing you a healthy and happy new years!

I like how you talk to your fat as if it's some POD person that landed on your body. I wrote about this issue today too. I thought my fat was an eggnogfudge tumor.
