Monday weigh in

Today I see the beginning of a period of stability again. My parents just left and things seem to be stable with my husband's family for the moment so no emergency trips to so cal on the horizon (I hope!). I've officially reached the maintenance phase of this journey and am managing to do it (so far) even with road trips and a lot of family visiting and drama. It's time for my number-related goals to shift to fitness and strength training instead of my weight on the scale -- although I'll continue to monitor closely. For example, I've been doing 16 mile bike rides and have a goal to work up to 20 miles as my minimum ride.

Today: 135.4. Now, I feel like it's OK to shop for shorts and summer things that really fit. I seem to be between a size 8 and 6. A great place to be -- not complaining! I have to try everything on because I have some weird perceptions of my size sometimes.

Thanks for all the positive, funny and encouraging comments from last week's weigh in and for all the support during this journey. This really is a super community in blogland.

ADDED: More potentially great news about the Almighty D -- "Could vitamin D be a key to successful dieting?"

I can send you some size 6s that I wore when I was 6 years old. I'm sure there's some seersucker in there.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is always hard stuff so really happy for you! The maintenance can be the tricky part but have no doubt you will do it!!! Just keep listening to your body & feeling how the clothes fit! And yes, that perception of your own size does not change fast! I know what size I wear but I sometimes see my old fat self in the mirror!

You totally deserve a nice day (or two or three)out shopping for new summer outfits Lee! Family drama can really take over life...we have been pretty lucky the last year or two, but you just never know when it is gonna hit the fan.
Glad you are seeing calmer days ahead.

POD - Don't make me pedal to Santa Cruz to avenge my fashion sense! Seersucker, pffft.

Jody - I never thought I'd have body perception issues after losing 25 pounds but I do. Thanks for the encouragement re: maintaining.

Gigi - Thanks! This summer is a whole other thing compared with last summer.

Patty - Thanks for everything! Really, everything. All the encouragement...
I've been very, very fortunate to have had little family crisis in my life before this so I think I was unprepared. We're dealing both with an aging mother who is going through a major living situation change plus some serious health issues and a member of the family who was exploiting her to support their prescription drug addiction. Either one of these problems would be more than enough. To have them reach a crisis at the same time and that there is entanglement has been extremely challenging. But, such is life. No one is immune. Maybe I can visit you when you need help picking tomatoes...?

Your room is prepared and waiting Lee! Now we just need those tomato plants to start giving it up.

I was talking with my sister yesterday and we have had very little drama or loss in our lives, so we are not going to be too prepared ourselves when that day does come. And it will come if we are fortunate to live long enough. Of course I am from the South, so we have had the obligatory teenage pregnancy and a brother spend a year in prison...we're not complete drama virgins! :-) LOL!!

hahahha
Seersucker.
Do they even make that anymore? My mother would sew jumpers and stuff for my sister and I and always talked about the seersucker. Seemed like it went with summer.
