On to the Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt...I tried the nonfat plain yogurt. Alone, it's only 80 calories for 5.3 oz serving. I added blackberries and diced strawberries. Very nice treat on a warm, sunny Earth Day afternoon. I think I will happily use this yogurt as a substitute for sour cream from now on. I'm happy to support both my independent, locally owned store and Stonyfield Farm, who at this time, produces the only ORGANIC Greek Yogurt.
BTW - I just recently got around to trying nonfat FAGE Greek Yogurt. Loved the texture. Like the Oikos yogurt, I added blackberries. I don't know, was it because of the thicker texture (?), but I felt as if I were having a decadent snack or dessert. While the Oikos organic plain nonfat yogurt mixed with fresh fruit was a yummy snack, I think it has a better texture and flavor for use as a healthy substitute for sour cream.
Thank you, Kristina for the opportunity to try your company's yogurt.

Oh man, I can't wait to try this!
I'm all about the greeks when it comes to yogurt! I put frozen blueberries in my Fage with a little Splenda. It turns into the best frozen dessert!
I LOVE GREEK YOGURT!!!! Yes, the Fage is thick & creamy.. love it & the Oikos is good too but I love the thickness of Fage.
Kristi at Summer Fitness mentioned the Trader Joes brand. I did not even know they made a Greek yogurt until she mentioned it & it is much cheaper! I am trying that this week to see if it is as good as Fage.
I put organic blueberries in mine & a tiny Splenda OR season with cinnamon & dip apples in it!
I have even replaced the milk called for in a bread recipe with Fage yogurt!
Me too Lee! I discovered it a few months ago and no sourcream will ever enter our home again. When I **need** a creamy salad dressing, I mix a scant teaspoon of the greek yogurt with a little soy, dijon mustard, olive oil and balsamic vinager. I'll have to look for the Stonyfield Organic next time.
I'm glad Stoneyfield makes a greek yogurt. Their other organic stuff is quite good.
And Oikos brand is absolutely FAB on chili. The perfect sour cream substitute.
Tena - going to have to try it your way. Sounds great!
Jody - I happened to have some TJ's plain, nonfat Greek Style yogurt in the fridge. Results: Added fresh organic blueberries. Texture is somewhat between Fage and Oikos organic. Found I needed to add a touch of sweetener (light drip of good honey). Overall, pretty yummy but not as good as Fage. I've had TJ's flavored but still nonfat little yogurts. The pomegranate is tasty. I added hamster pellet cereal (Fiber One original) to it. Basically, it's all good. :)
Patty - your salad dressing recipe sounds wonderful. May try this on broccoli slaw.
Camevil - I have a can of TJ's organic vegetarian chili in the pantry. Will whip some Oikos on it when the time comes. Thanks for the heads up. I love chili.
I had to come back and say that your post had me thinking about the greek yogurt, so for lunch today I had some homemade tomato soup heating up, added one crumbled up slice of bacon, and one teaspoon of the greek yogurt to make it creamy and it was wonderful. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)
