A 33-year-old man who was critically injured on Wednesday morning when a heavy tree limb snapped off and struck him in the head while he was walking in Central Park has begun to show signs of consciousness, responding to verbal commands. ...
[He] was walking alone near the park entrance at West 63rd Street around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday when the limb — four inches in diameter — fell from a giant oak tree. He was taken, unconscious, to the intensive care unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and listed in critical condition. He was placed on a ventilator because the tree limb had punctured his lung.

I hope this fella's recovery is as good as mine and he's back walking in the park soon.

Sorry, Lee, I wasn't even aware that you were injured. I'm sure there will be some people out there who will cite this as evidence that exercise is dangerous! :-)
Good heavens! I'm glad you were not more seriously hurt...
I didn't realize you were hurt so badly. My goodness.
You were lucky. I have a friend who was struck by a limb that tore through her face (ouch). She's had to undergo three surgeries so far.
Trees! We should cut 'em all down!
I'm glad you are recovering. Trees are mean. Or maybe they are paying us back for all the trees we've cut down.
I am so glad you are better. I have similar issues from my dog attack last year with scar tenderness & all.. and yes, like your tree cracking, dogs still give me a fright when I am jogging.
Take care!
I'm starting to see a disturbing pattern here with these punk trees. I'm canceling our next camping trip.
Was this about the super genius Google engineer who got hit in Central Park? When I heard that story I immediately thought of you and how close you came to being seriously injured. Prayers to him and his family.
