super star

Today's featured food super star is organic blueberries. I love blueberries and it doesn't get better than summertime when I can get them from local farms. They are fantastic stirred into oatmeal or Fage nonfat Greek yogurt. When I first started on this journey, I wondered if I'd end up looking older when I lost some of the youthful roundness in my face. Why beat around the bush? I wondered if by losing weight I'd gain winkles. Thankfully, this has not been the case at all and I think my diet of berries of some kind everyday but mostly blueberries, deserves at least some of the credit.

How do blueberries rank with you?

I've got a sweet spot for fresh blueberries. My wife and youngest daughter are going blueberry picking Monday... there's one last place here that has late-season berries...

LOVE blueberries! I buy frozen organic from Trader Joes. Put them in my non fat greek yogurt, oatmeal & more!

I love just about every kind of fruit, but blueberries are the best.

I really, really love blueberries! In my heavy life my favorite thing to do with them was make blueberry pound cake!

These days, I just love them plain!

LOOOOOVE
we always have some in the fridge and fresh frozen as well.

I may or may not have used bags of frozen before to place on my tattoos after they were finished to prevent swelling and then put them in a blender for a post-tattoo smoothie ;)

I'd say blueberries are right below raspberries and watermelon.

Love them! In the past 2 weeks I have found pounds and pounds of them on sale (5 pounds for $7.99....got 4 of those!) and have kept fresh ones in the fridge, and frozen lots for future use. Yum! Breakfast today was a cup of plain yogurt sweetened with a few drops of vanilla stevia, 1/2 cup or so fresh blueberries, a ripe and amazing nectarine...and 1/2 cup all-bran cereal.

I am extremely partial to blueberries! This week I used them in banana bread (recipe up on my blog) which was amazing! Otherwise I love them in pancakes, fruit salad, smoothies, in porridge, or as part of a summer berry pudding.

My mom and I will be going blueberry picking around the end of August but unfortunately not for the wild ones.
I love blueberries in my shakes and in oatmeal.
