fat fatigue

Here's another article that instead of examining the rising tide of "weight-gain" books, explores a seeming obsession among TV viewers in the UK for shows featuring people with extreme morbid obesity. What does the popularity of "fatsploitation" shows say about pop culture? Will this focus on obesity help to stem the 'obesity epidemic' in the UK or is it normalizing -- leading to 'fat fatigue?' As you might imagine this article is quite interesting. And, as usual, more questions are raised than answers provided.

Yeah, I wonder if people just want to see other folks who are in a worse boat than they're in.

Interesting.

Hi Lee. I confess I didn't make it to the end of the article, because it was long and I'm really tried right now. But I just wanted to say that I hate to think pop culture is a true reflection of who we are, because if it is, we're doomed. I don't get a lot of these shows.
