Doesn't this just make all kinds of sense? Especially if you live in a somewhat temperate area of the world.

Flowers for sale at Kilauea Farmers Market

We're in Kauai celebrating our anniversary. Here, farmers markets are very popular. It's always interesting to see the different food offered for sale when you're away from home. We bought a tiny (yes, cute) pineapple, apple bananas, green beans, papaya and purple sweet potatoes. Everything has been delicious!

Farmers market report

The farmers market was the happening spot in ol' P-ville this morning. Maybe this is the peak of the season? I picked up some strawberries, blueberries (natch) and cherry tomatoes. Also, got a plum scone for J from a local baker who's in the process of starting up a bakery. Strawberry Bob declared that he loved me today. I admitted to a crush. Lordy.

How about you, did you make it out to the farmers market this week?

Farmers market report

Made sure I had my Chico bag with me, and was off to the first local farmers' market of the season. At the top of my list was fresh picked cherries. I wasn't disappointed, although they were only available at one booth. I also picked up some strawberries and a locally produced olive oil (meyer lemon infused - sweet Jesus is this stuff good!). Non-food item of the day: a small bouquet of sweet peas.

Has your local farmers' market started? Did you make it out to a farmers' market this weekend? When you go to a farmers' market, do you have a plan (or "strategies") to get the most from your experience?
