Are you thinking you might be seeing something engraved? You are correct. It is the free engraving offered by Apple. So what if it's invisible to the naked eye. It was free and I know it's there. It's from a favorite Joni Mitchell song: No regrets, Coyote.

Here's what I discovered the other day -- I can 'shuffle' my biking playlist. About 99.8 percent of the time, I ride my road bike on the bike trail that goes along the American River toward Sacramento. It is a fantastic bike trail. Really. But, I've ridden it many, many times. You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes to let the iPod spirits do their shuffle magic on an oft played playlist. Well, it's like falling in love all over again. :)

back in the saddle

We finally went for a bike ride yesterday on the American River trail. Spotted this bird nesting box that had been given some extra flair. You can't tell from this photo but the green heart is glittery. A nice touch.

I recovered the daily mile widget that was somehow lost when I changed the blog template. We rode 16 miles and it felt great to be back riding and listening to tunes on the iPod.

In these shoes?

Kirsty MacColl would have turned 50 today if she had not been killed in a tragic accident several years ago. It's also my grandmother's birthday. She was an artist (painter), poet and full-of-life adventuress. I usually try to plant bulbs on her birthday but doesn't look like I'll get to it today. Thought about both of these saucy British women during my 30 mile ride on this gorgeous fall day.

late to the party

I recently got a new ipod nano as my big reward for reaching my goal weight. I know I'm late to the party with the whole ipod thing, but I'm filled with the excitement of a new discovery! I already ♥ my ipod.

The ipod is going to be a great support for both walking and cycling. I've now entered the world of podcasts. I listened to This American Life and a Fresh Air episode yesterday during a 19 mile ride. I could still hear the "on your lefts" of the jersey boys as they passed me, so it was safe to use on the trail.

The only music on my ipod so far is a favorite album, Pneumonia by Whiskeytown and a new song by Gomez. I'm thinking that aside from Whiskeytown, I'm mainly going to stick to new music. On that note, I'm outta here...going to hit the ol' walking path with my new toy.
