Farmers market report

Made sure I had my Chico bag with me, and was off to the first local farmers' market of the season. At the top of my list was fresh picked cherries. I wasn't disappointed, although they were only available at one booth. I also picked up some strawberries and a locally produced olive oil (meyer lemon infused - sweet Jesus is this stuff good!). Non-food item of the day: a small bouquet of sweet peas.

Has your local farmers' market started? Did you make it out to a farmers' market this weekend? When you go to a farmers' market, do you have a plan (or "strategies") to get the most from your experience?

In my part of the world, Farmers Markets are a year-long event. Only closed for Easter, Christmas, and New Years. And oh, do I love them!

You're right. Myer Infused Olive Oil ROCKS!

Cherries and locally produced Meyer Lemon infused olive oil will never be an option at a farmer's market around here! I am green with envy Lee! We have dubbed our local market the Non-farmer's market because you couldn't find a farmer there if your life depended on it. Mostly resellers, crafts, bakers, and a few small backyard growers. We still go occasionally and find a few things, but it is pretty hit or miss. That is part of the reason we started trying to grow more of our own food. (And I have been harvesting a few strawberries the last few days.)
